A 35mm Film Family Photo Session on the Family Ranch in Gonzales, TX

Mara is a mom, small business owner, park roller skater, and a multi-faceted human raising pigs, horses, cattle, chickens, rabbits, goats, and a little cowgirl on her family ranch in Gonzales, Texas.

I drove the 45 minutes out into the country one evening for a visit to their home with my 35mm Canon 1v analog film camera. With no expectations, no pinterest boards, no pose ideas, and no outfit inspiration. This photo session was completely unplanned, unposed, and unpolished. It’s just life as-it-is captured on film. And it’s probably the most beautiful one captured yet.

Here’s a romanticized look into a day-in-the-life of a little girl growing up in the countryside among big open skies and big green pastures. Growing up chasing chickens, riding dirtbikes with dad, and watching horses run wild in wide open spaces- Life in the country aint a bad place to be a kid.
